Dear Noel Community Arts School Community,

This letter is to provide the Noel Community Arts School community with an update on the principal selection process. As you know, Executive Principal Rhonda Juett announced that she will be departing at the end of this 19-20 school year. We are so thankful to Rhonda for her valuable contributions, dedication and leadership over the last three and a half years and we are committed to having a thorough and collaborative Principal hiring process to identify the next school leader.

DPS considers selecting a new principal an essential component of building highly-effective schools. I share with you below, a snapshot of our hiring plans for Noel Community Arts School. We aim to have a rigorous and comprehensive process that involves multiple opportunities for data collection and input on strengths and opportunities for growth before a final decision is made by Superintendent Susana Cordova.

With any principal selection committee, there are certain steps we must take to ensure that the committee members and the community-at-large are confident and clear with the process. We will begin steps next week to review the principal selection process with the CSC who will be responsible for recommending a School Principal Selection Advisory Committee (SPSAC). The SPSAC is an advisory committee that provides feedback to the Regional Instructional team to inform the hiring decision that is ultimately made by the Superintendent. The SPSAC will be comprised of a combination of parents/guardians and staff members who represent the diversity of the Noel Community Arts School community. The SPSAC will work with us to synthesize the community feedback about the essential characteristics of the next Noel Community Arts School leader and interview the top 3-5 candidates to help us identify the top 2-3 candidates to participate in subsequent steps of the process to include a Learning Walk and Community Forum.

We highly value the voices of all our stakeholders in this hiring process. To honor this, we would like your input in determining the characteristics you would like to see in the next principal. You may provide your input using the links below or return the hard copy of the questions attached to this letter to the Noel Community Arts School main office. Please submit the survey by Monday, February 17, 2020 @ 5pm.
