Dear NCAS Community,
Welcome to the new year of 2021. We are looking forward to the new semester and we are sending best wishes to our NCAS community. We wanted to provide a couple of updates for the new semester. First, we are extending the first semester until January 12, 2021, and will begin the second semester on January 13th. The extension provides students with an opportunity to catch up on work and bring grades up if needed. Second, we will transition to the hybrid in-person model beginning with orientation days on January 21st & 22nd for those students who have selected the in-person option, and maintain virtual learning for students who selected that option. Orientation days will be based on your student’s scheduled cohort. Students will receive this information in their 1st period SEAL class and it is available below as well.
If my student is returning, does my student need to attend Orientation days? YES. Below is the schedule.
What does my students’ schedule look like on a weekly basis and what is the first date they need to return?
We will begin Hybrid in-person learning the following week beginning on January 24, 2021 and will be using the following schedule:
Hybrid In-Person Model:
Monday & Tuesday: Cohort A
How do I find out if my student is Cohort A or B?
Reminders & Resources
In addition, we wanted to send some expectation reminders for In-person learning to ensure a safe and healthy return.
In addition, we recommend students get tested before coming back to school and regular testing every other week for all students attending in-person, even if they do not have any symptoms, as we know that COVID can be spread by people with no symptoms. Free COVID testing through COVID Check Colorado continues to be available.
Please use this link to register your DPS student: COVID Check Colorado.
COVID Testing locations include: Montbello campus, Abraham Lincoln, North, All City Stadium and a new site at George Washington. Tests will be completed via nasal PCR test or SalivaDirect™, and results will be returned within 36-72 hours. Link to testing locations: COVID Testing Locations
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to a healthy and safe second semester. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
